At Therapeutic Riding centres across Canada, children and adults with special needs arrive for their weekly riding lessons. Riders are greeted by their instructor and their volunteer leader and side-walkers. On the same horse each week, riders have a happy reunion with “their horse.” Team members remain consistently the same as they build a rapport with the rider for the best possible therapeutic outcomes.

The Youth Literary Derby and Youth Art Derby are horse-themed contests designed to engage Ontario-resident students in Grades 3 through 8 (for Literary) and 3 through 12 (for Art) with separate divisions for juniors, intermediates, and seniors. The contests are projects of the non-profit Bill Galvin Racing Alliance (BGRA) with support from many sponsors including Equine Guelph (University of Guelph).

Canadian Horse Journal is excited to announce its selection as a finalist in the annual American Horse Publications (AHP) Equine Media Awards competition that recognizes excellence in content published in 2023. A long-time member of AHP, Canadian Horse Journal is once again the only Canadian media named as a finalist in this contest, which welcomes entries from top equine media across North America.
