Pain is not a choice. But you DO have a choice of what you do about it.
For over 25 years, Sore No-More has been trusted by professional equine athletes, therapists, trainers, and veterinarians for topical pain relief. SNM can help put a stop to the never-ending cycle of soreness, tiredness, and inflammation that can wreak havoc on muscles, tendons, ligaments, and other soft tissue. In fact, our Performance Ultra line has been researched and proven to decrease back pain by 90% within the first 30 days of use.
Humble Beginnings
Liniments have had a long efficacy and concerns about burning and discomfort when applied. In fact, some topical pain relief lines can severely irritate the skin, causing more harm to an already uncomfortable horse. And this issue wasn’t just a problem for horses, but for anyone applying the liniment, too. What’s the point of applying something to reduce pain when it causes more pain?
Starting out in a pot on the stove, experimentation began with different herbal ingredients, including components like witch hazel, arnica, and ginger, which were believed to have beneficial effects while being gentle on the skin.
As batch sizes increased, the pot wasn’t nearly big enough. The pot graduated to a bathroom sink, and then to a bathtub.
Fast forward to years later. We knew we had something unique that would really benefit equine athletes, and we began to collect data showing its benefits. The bathtub was left far behind.
All Natural Ingredients
From the very beginning, we developed SNM using strict standards for quality and efficacy. Our herbs are carefully chosen, extracted, and monitored for purity and strength. We don’t use commercial extracts or watered-down tinctures. No harsh chemicals or irritating herbs such as menthol or capsaicin are used in our formula.
Our unique ingredients and proprietary formulation safely target inflammation without the burning and discomfort of traditional liniments.
Arnica acts to soothe muscle aches and reduce inflammation.
Rosemary is rich in anti-inflammatory compounds and antioxidants.
Witch Hazel soothes redness, irritation, and pruritis.
Ginger has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.
Comfrey is the most powerful herbal anti-inflammatory available for horses.
Not Just A Liniment
Each preparation of our research proven SNM Performance Ultra contains the same powerful but gentle natural formula. Our Gelotion offers a thicker consistency for targeted pain relief in areas that may present a challenge for liniment application. SNM Performance Ultra Gelotion provides focused penetration and relief to sore muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
And in addition to these benefits, our Gelotion has an additional feature — it shows you the most sore and inflamed spots on your horse. When applied, the Gelotion will start to foam where there is heat, helping you identify and target problem areas. This property has given our Gelotion the nickname “Dr. Sore No-More.”
Made from bentonite, the same clay used in human facial masks, SNM Performance Ultra Poultice offers your horse another option for proven pain relief. This easy-to-apply and easy-to-remove poultice is one of the few medicated poultices on the market and can be used under bandages and wraps, or on its own, with no worry of burning or irritation. It can even be used as a hoof pack or drawing agent for abscesses, infections, and bruises.
The Research
We knew that SNM Performance Ultra was the only liniment out there that could claim clinical-strength pain relief for horses under regular work. In 2021, we sought to prove this by seeing how Performance Ultra could make an impact on back pain in a group of riding horses at Truman State University in Missouri.
The study involved 18 horses in the university riding program confirmed through veterinary exam to have lower back pain. We used a combination of pressure algometry and thermography to support the presence and location of pain and inflammation.
SNM Performance Ultra was then applied to areas along the lower back based on these findings. Over a 30-day period all horses continued with their regular exercise schedules in addition to a short period of controlled exercise. Thermography and pressure algometry were used to assess pain scores.
Horses in the treatment group had a statistically significant decrease in pain score from the beginning to the end of the trial. Thermal imaging also demonstrated a significant impact on temperature readings both at the time of the trial as well as after exercise and application of Performance Ultra. Near the end of the 30 days, horses in the treatment group had a lower average temperature.
In summary, not only did we see a decrease in pain scores in treated horses, but this also correlated to a decrease in temperature as an indicator of inflammation.
